Plant breeding and biotechnology

Production of plant varieties adapted to sustainable, efficient and environmentally friendly agriculture.

Exploitation of natural genetic resources and development of new breeding tools.

The SPS network Research teams work to improve production and increase natural genetic variability. They develop tools to optimize genetic shuffling, clonal reproduction of genotypes, identification of genes of agronomic interest and targeted genome modification (endonuclease). They also contribute to the evaluation of the impact of the use of these methods on the seed chain at the technical, economic, societal and regulatory levels.

Expertise

Plant breeding

Mechanisms involved in the control of meiotic crossing-overs, apomixis.

Study of plant biodiversity

New plants for new uses (Camelina and Miscanthus).

Breeding (natural or induced)

Biotechnology

  • Library of mutants (T-DNA, tilling)
  • New technologies for  transgenesis (meganuclease TALENs, CRISPRs) and regeneration.
