The SPS Summer School 2016

From gene expression to genomic network

2016 July 17th to 22nd - Centre Port Royal, Saint-Lambert

Summer School 2016

In 2015, the SPS LabEx organized its first Summer School, dedicated to seed biology. The second edition took place last July. 1 master’s student, 16 PhD candidates and 6 postdocs, interested in various areas of plant sciences and statistics, spent a week together working on the different steps of bioinformatics and statistics analyses applied to omics, in particular transcriptomics. Each step was presented by internationally recognized specialists of the domain, who put their expertise and teaching skills at the participants’ disposal.

The program was intensive for the 23 selected young scientists coming from labs of 7 European countries and representing 9 worldwide nationalities. The participants emphasized the quality of the lectures and the broad overview given by the scientific program, with a very wide range of topics and approaches. In this very international environment, they also appreciated the very constructive and helpful interactions among participants, as well as with the organizers and with the lecturers who, for most of them, spent the entire week with the young scientists.

This very friendly atmosphere was also the occasion to share other activities, such as pétanque, or to go hiking in the forest of the Upper Chevreuse Valley Regional Natural Park, where the Summer School was located.

In short, the SPS Summer School has once again been a success!
