PhD Days 2026: three days of interactions for PhD students in the SEVE Doctoral School

The 2026 edition of the SEVE Doctoral School’s PhD Days, co-funded by SPS, took place from July 1 to 3, 2026, at the Institute Jean-Pierre Bourgin for Plant Sciences (Versailles).

The PhD Days, organized since 2002 by the “Doc’ en herbe” association, are a must-attend event for doctoral students in the SEVE Doctoral School. This event provides them with an opportunity to present the progress of their PhD projects, exchange ideas in an informal setting, and strengthen bonds within the community. The 2026 edition brought together more than 50 people from various laboratories within the SPS/Paris-Saclay perimeter, including current PhD students, as well as future PhD candidates about to begin their projects.

These three days featured scientific presentations and poster sessions covering a diverse range of topics and approaches. These sessions fostered enriching discussions about work already completed and avenues for future exploration.

In addition to the PhD students’ presentations, the event also benefited from the expertise of two guest speakers, Chloé Girard (CNRS) and Pierre-Antoine Vigneron (CEA-Supbiotech), who presented their research.

Finally, the last day was dedicated to a career session designed to guide doctoral students on their career paths after the PhD. This roundtable was held by four invited speakers: Marie Casado (Limagrain), Johan Habersetzer (IJPB - AgroParisTech), Maud Tenaillon (GQE - Le Moulon), and Sophie Nadot (ESE).

Participants also enjoyed relaxed and friendly moments during which they were able to discuss various topics and build relationships that fostered mutual support and helped them establish their own professional networks.

Feedback following the event was positive: participants appreciated the various activities, and the presentations met high scientific standards.

As it does every year, SPS provided financial support for the PhD Days, thereby reaffirming its commitment to scientific exchange and collaboration among doctoral students within its community.
