International SPS Symposium 2026: 110 scientists gathered to discuss Plant Sciences

The International SPS Symposium 2026, “Today’s Research, Plants of Tomorrow” took place from October 14 to 16, 2026 at the INRAE Center in Versailles.

This event brought together approximately 110 scientists from 25 countries and representing 38 different nationalities for three days of sharing the latest discoveries in Plant Sciences, discussions, and networking.

The theme, “Today’s research, plants of tomorrow,” is highly relevant: to face the significant climate change that we are currently experiencing and will increasingly face in the near future, deepening our knowledge of Plant Sciences is crucial.

The keynote speaker Arp Schnittger, 10 invited speakers (including 5 from SPS laboratories) and 20 speakers selected on abstract delivered presentations during various session organized around five themes: Nutrition and Metabolism, Interactions with the Environment, Cell and Developmental Biology, Genome-Wide Analysis, and Agronomic Traits and Breeding Tools.

Twenty-eight posters were presented during two dedicated sessions, preceded by flash talks that gave other participants an overview of each poster. Presented primarily by young researchers, these posters favored in-depth discussions and showcased their research.

Plenty of opportunities were provided for networking: a welcome cocktail, coffee breaks, lunches, and a closing gala dinner fostered exchanges and, hopefully, the development of new collaborations and lasting connections.

The participants’ feedback has been very positive: the variety of topics, the quality of the program, and the level of the presentations were highly appreciated.

“Fantastic organisation and communication prior to the conference, and globally a very enjoyable conference”

“I really enjoyed the scientific program and the welcoming atmosphere.”

“I was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional quality of the scientific sessions and the inspiring academic atmosphere.”

“It was a really nice conference and a great learning experience for me. Looking forward to the future opportunities from the people I met there.”

By organizing this event, SPS favored the sharing of knowledge, discussions, and highlighted cutting-edge research conducted by the participants and the SPS research teams.

We would like to thank everyone involved in the organization of the International SPS Symposium 2026: the members of the organizing and scientific committees, the session chairpersons, as well as the volunteers PhD students for their help. Our thanks also go to the conference participants for discussing their latest findings.
